What happens during a cat sitting visit?

INTRODUCTION

If you’ve never used a cat sitter before, it’s completely normal to wonder what actually happens during visits while you’re away.

Every cat is different, so no two visits are ever exactly the same. Some cats want lots of fuss and playtime, while others prefer a calmer approach and a little more space.

My goal during every visit is to make sure your cat feels safe, comfortable and cared for while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible.

FEEDING & FRESH WATER

One of the first things I do during visits is make sure your cat has fresh food and clean water.

This includes:

• Feeding according to their normal routine

• Refreshing water bowls

• Washing bowls if needed

• Giving treats if allowed

Keeping feeding routines familiar can help cats feel more settled and relaxed while owners are away.

LITTER TRAYS & CLEANLINESS

A clean environment is very important for cats.

During visits I:

• Clean litter trays

• Top up litter if needed

• Check for any unusual changes

• Help keep your cat’s space clean and comfortable

Many cats can become stressed if their litter area isn’t kept clean, so this is always an important part of visits.

PLAYTIME, COMPANY & CHECKING ON WELLBEING

Every cat has a different personality and comfort level.

Some cats love attention and interaction, while others prefer quieter companionship and simply knowing someone familiar is nearby.

Depending on your cat’s personality, visits may include:

• Playtime

• Brushing

• Fuss and affection

• Sitting quietly nearby

• Checking behaviour and wellbeing

I always work at your cat’s pace and never force interaction.

HOME CHECKS & EXTRA CARE

Alongside caring for your cat, I also help make sure everything at home is running smoothly while you’re away.

This can include:

• Bringing in post

• Opening or closing curtains

• Watering plants

• Basic home checks

• Monitoring room temperature during warmer weather

Small things like this can help give owners extra peace of mind while travelling.

REGULAR UPDATES & PHOTOS

One of the things many owners say helps them relax most while away is receiving regular updates and photos.

I always aim to send updates so you know:
